Us!
Today is our 13th anniversary. Wow...am I old enough to be married for 13 years? I'm not so sure about that. Ha!
Anyway, I'm looking forward to a relaxing, but semi-productive day. I go to the doctor this morning for a follow-up on my blood pressure. Hoping that it all goes well.
Chris and I have dinner reservations tonight at the Blue Fire Steakhouse at the Richmond Marriott. His parents gave us a "Dinner for Two" certificate last year that we never used. So we decided to use it tonight...it should be a lot of fun and a lot of food. The certificate covers: 2 appetizers, 2 salads, 2 entrees, 2 desserts and all tax and gratuity...woohoo!
We woke up this morning and spent a couple of minutes thinking about this day 13 years ago. Kind of fun to do that...and remember the funny things that happened.
Like when we left the reception and arrived at the Radisson Mark Plaza in Alexandria, where we were staying for our wedding night. But, because we were under 21, and his parents were paying for the room, they asked us to wait until his parents arrived to give them an imprint of their credit card. So, Chris and I stood in the hotel lobby (in dress and tux) and waited...while everyone stared at us and wondered what in the world we were doing.
Finally, after about 35-40 minutes, we called the church to see how much longer it would be before his parents made it to the hotel. When Roni (Chris' stepmom) found out that they hadn't let us in our room yet, she called the hotel and apparently gave them an earful because several minutes later they came rushing over to us, apologizing and gave us a key to our room.
But the fun didn't stop there...We had all this food with us and there was supposed to be a refrigerator in the suite, but of course when we got to our room, there wasn't one there. So we had to call down and request one. They tried to tell us it would be about an hour, but we assured them that they had better get it up to our room and fast...I'm sure they didn't want another call from Roni.
So, they brought the fridge and the food was safely stored for later...but oh, the fun didn't stop there either. Several hours later our toilet overflowed and maintenance had to come and fix it and then they sent housekeeping to come and clean up the mess.
While it was kind of irritating, it was also funny and definitely created an unforgettable day! It also earned us a free night there that we used for our six month anniversary.
Anyway, I'll quit boring you with my reminiscing even though there are many other hilarious events of that day!
Hope you all enjoy your day...I know we will!
