A perilous journey...

I attempted a feat today that many might not even try*. Let me explain...

Now that Chris and I are living in DC, we have to be a little more thoughtful about grocery shopping. We'll most likely do a Costco run every 4 to 6 weeks but we'll need the every day kind of stuff from a regular grocery store.

Fortunately, there's a Giant and a Trader Joe's within a half mile of my office. So we decided that today I would go to the store on my way home from work. We even created a list last night.

One of the items on the list...ice cream. Now there are a few important details.
  • 10 mile drive from Old Town Alexandria to our house in NE, DC
  • Santa Fe doesn't have working air conditioning right now
  • the temperature peaked at close to 90 this afternoon
So what did I do? I didn't just buy 1...I bought 2 half gallons. The thought did cross my mind (only after I got in the car to drive home) that it was highly likely the ice cream would melt and drip all over the car. But, amazingly enough, it didn't...it did get a little soft, but no worries...they're resting comfortably in the freezer!

*This post is dedicated to Patricia. ;-)
